Explore Burnaby’s Fraser Foreshore Park and Vancouver’s River District Trail on this section of the Canyon to Coast Trail. Ride the Fraser River shoreline and look for tugboats, barges, and log booms. Canyon to Coast Trail

One day the Canyon to Coast Trail will stretch from Hope to the Salish Sea along 550 km of trails. This section of the trail in Chilliwack parallels the Fraser River and connects two parks: Island 22 to Ferry Island. The route is also part of The Great Trail. Bring your camera for the stunning views of the Cascade Mountains and farmlands.  Pick up a picnic lunch in downtown Chilliwack and enjoy the dyke trails or return via country roads.

Southlands

You can feel miles from the city in Vancouver’s Southlands neighbourhood, a rural area near UBC and the Musqueam Nation. Starting from Pacific Spirit Park, explore wooded trails, visit the Musqueam Cultural Centre, and pass by the Southlands Riding Club. You’ll ride the Fraser River Trail, a section of the Canyon to Coast Trail. There is art and signage along the route telling the history of this former industrial area. Originally built as a horse trail by local equestrians ― yield to horses and riders along the trail.

The route follows the The Great Trail through farm fields along the Fraser River to Fort Langley. For a shorter ride start at Derby Reach Park, explore the quaint town of Fort Langley and enjoy lunch or an ice-cream! Add on a visit to Brae Island Park or visit the 1827 Historic Fort.

Sea Island Exploring

There’s lots to ‘see’ on Sea Island in Richmond. For those who like exploring and singletrack, arrive by Skytrain and follow the Fraser River trails to the Coast Guard station. Visit Flight Path Park and watch the hustle and bustle of the airport then loop through Burkeville’s quiet streets. If you’re feeling like more, add on a 5km loop around YVR terminal.
