HUB Cycling Surrey asks all cyclists to speak up about safe cycling (even if you don’t live in Surrey):
The Surrey Langley Skytrain is currently in the 2nd phase of public engagement. If you haven’t filled out the survey yet please do so. It is very important that that voice of cyclists is heard so that proper cycling infrastructure is provided. Currently there are no specific cycling infrastructure facilities being constructed along the entire length of the Skytrain as there are with other Skytrain projects (BC Parkway and Millennium trails). This is despite the corridor being part of Translink’s Major Bike Network and part of Surrey’s Greenway plan. The project is planning on some infrastructure at the stations and local upgrades of the cycling network near the stations and is planning on keeping the existing inadequate on street bike lanes on Fraser Highway. There are open houses this week:
Wednesday, Nov. 13 2019 3 to 8 p.m. Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex 16555 Fraser Hwy, Surrey
Thursday, Nov. 14 2019 1 to 6 p.m. Kwantlen Polytechnic University 12666 72 Avenue, Surrey
Saturday, Nov. 16 2019 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Central City Shopping Centre 10153 King George Blvd, Surrey
HUB Surrey asks: When completing the survey please ask for cycle tracks to be constructed along the corridor. Please also list high the importance of bike lockers and racks at stations, cycle path connections to nearby destinations and provision for future bike-share.

Cycling along the Skytrain is like being under a big umbrella! The BC Parkway follows the Skytrain from New Westminster to Vancouver – a great cross-community trail. Let’s do this for the Surrey to Langley line!
