That's the Spirit ... Trail !
| Trail starts in Moodyville Park near the Grain Elevators high above Low Level Road just west of the 2nd Narrows Bridge. |
Today I rode an amazing route: the first completed (well, almost) section of the North Shore Spirit Trail. Planned to one day link the communities from Horseshoe Bay to Deep Cove, it is both a commuter route and a multi-use recreational trail. People can walk, jog, cycle, skate or wheel along the 35 kilometre route. It is safe for everyone, and fun for families with little riders! The pathway is safe, set aside from the road and wide enough for all to share.

The project is an astounding collaboration between the communities of West Vancouver, First Nations, North Vancouver, Translink, Federal and Provincial Governments. Minister of Transportation Blair Lekstrom says, "We're committed to investing in community cycling projects to support a healthier lifestyle for families, by encouraging outdoor activities that are fun and inexpensive."
If the crowds of people I saw on the trail today is any indication, the goal has been met. What a vision they have, building this trail for generations to come. I can't wait for them to build the rest of the trail !!!

There are so many things for kids and families to explore and enjoy, especially just east of Lonsdale Quay. Here are a few highlights from today's ride: Click here for more pictures in Flickr
