Explore Penticton by Bike

in

If you’re looking for one ride that captures everything people love about Penticton, this is it.

Pedal along the shores of both Okanagan and Skaha Lakes, cruise beside the Penticton Channel where summer tubers drift lazily downstream, and enjoy kilometres of paved pathways linking beaches, parks and neighbourhoods. It’s an easy-going ride with plenty of opportunities to stop for coffee, lunch or a swim along the way.

Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or staying a little longer, this is one of the best ways to get acquainted with the city.

Distance: 17 km
Difficulty: Easy
Surface: Mostly paved and gravel multi-use pathways with a few quiet on-road connections.

Ride Highlights

  • Waterfront pathways along both Okanagan and Skaha Lakes
  • The lively Penticton Channel with its famous floating river
  • SS Sicamous Museum and waterfront park
  • Quiet residential streets and shaded pathways
  • Plenty of cafés, beaches and picnic spots along the route
  • Easy connections to the Kettle Valley Rail Trail if you’d like to extend your ride

Local Tips

One of Penticton’s favourite summer traditions is floating down the Penticton Channel. On warm afternoons you’ll see hundreds of people drifting lazily downstream on colourful tubes—it’s one of those uniquely Okanagan experiences that’s almost as much fun to watch as it is to do.

Pack a swimsuit if the weather is warm. With beaches on both lakes, it’s hard to resist a refreshing dip before or after your ride.
