Hardpacked dyke trail
There are many flat and scenic trails to explore on the dykes around Sumas Prairie. What was once a large lake, drained in the 1920s, is now home to dairy farms and berry fields.
You’ll see views of Taggart Peak, Vedder Mountain and the Cheam Mountain Range.
This easy ride links McKay Creek Trail, Sumas River Trail, Barrowtown and Vedder River Trail, with options to continue on nearby dykes.
Route
- Start at Eldridge & Atkinson Road in Abbotsford
- Ride east on McKay Creek Trail, then Sumas River Trail
- Cross No. 3 Road, continue past McDonald Park and ride east on the dyke
- Return by the same route or continue toward Barrowtown and the Vedder River
