Explore the Naramata Bench

Slow down.

The Naramata Bench isn’t about racing from winery to winery—it’s about taking your time. Quiet country roads, vineyard views, charming cafés and sweeping vistas over Okanagan Lake make this one of British Columbia’s most relaxing places to explore by bike.

Few places in British Columbia combine cycling, vineyards and lake views quite like the Naramata Bench.

Starting from Penticton, this unforgettable ride follows a combination of the historic Kettle Valley Rail Trail and quiet country roads through rolling vineyards, orchards and welcoming wineries. Along the way you’ll discover spectacular viewpoints over Okanagan Lake, charming cafés and plenty of places to stop for lunch or a wine tasting.

Whether you ride the entire route or simply explore a section, this is one of the Okanagan’s classic cycling adventures.

Distance: 46 km

Difficulty: Moderate

Local Tips

The Naramata Bench is famous for its wineries, but it’s equally rewarding for its scenery. Even if wine tasting isn’t on your agenda, you’ll enjoy riding through rows of vineyards with Okanagan Lake sparkling below.

During harvest season, the vineyards are especially beautiful as the grapes ripen and the valley takes on rich autumn colours. Spring blossoms and early summer are equally spectacular.
