Galloping Goose Trail

Formerly a freight railway, the picturesque Galloping Goose Trail is one of the top three rail-trails in BC, and is part of the Trans Canada Trail, which stretches coast to coast across Canada. Ride, walk or roll on this fun route, suitable for all ages and abilities. “The Goose” takes you through urban, rural and wilderness scenery on its 55-kilometre journey from Victoria to Sooke. Visit communities along the way: View Royal, Langford, Metchosin, and Sooke, spend the day at Matheson Park – a great day trip. Visit the Sooke Potholes, follow the Stickleback Trail, walk Whiffin Spit and look for seals from the Sooke boardwalk. “The Goose” intersects with the Lochside Trail and the E&N Rail-Trail.
