Load up the panniers!
We enjoyed a trip to Salt Spring Island last week, then spent a few days islands exploring on Galiano, Mayne, Pender and Saturna on a mix of ferries and water-taxis Tsawwassen.
The Gulf Islands are ideal for this kind of slower travel: ferry connections, quiet roads, village stops, ocean views and just enough hills to remind you that you packed panniers.
We enjoying riding the newly created trails on Mayne and Pender and are very excited for the planned Salt Spring Island Trail in-the-works.
Come on over ….

Salt Spring Island at a Glance
A classic Gulf Islands cycling destination with ferry connections, ocean views, rural roads, village stops
Good to know: Salt Spring riding includes hills, narrow roads and mixed traffic. E-bikes help, but riders should be comfortable with rural road conditions, hills, few shoulders and riding with traffic.
Highlights: Ganges, Fulford Harbour, Vesuvius, Saturday Market, ocean viewpoints, cafés, farm stands.
Best for: Confident leisure riders, e-bike riders, touring cyclists and island explorers.
